A FULL house was treated to an evening of bone crunching action from bell to bell as the wrestlers of Sandown-based Outcast Pro Wrestling (OPW) staged their latest show.

The event, at Newport’s Riverside Centre, could not have got off to a better start as Isle of Wight Championship belt holder, Jackson Arrow, made a defence of his title against man mountain, Max Carnage.

It was a real David v Goliath contest, with Carnage, doing exactly what it says on the tin, disposing of and dethroning Arrow with a nine-foot ‘power bomb’ drop to become the new champion.

A tournament to decide the first-ever OPW Tag Team Championship kicked off, with Outcast Death Squad due to face Jayden William and Ryan Hendricks in the final after they beat Perfect Storm and Dirty Dave Dennis and Eddie Kennway respectively.

In the second half of the card, the Isle of Wight Championship again became the focus, as a nine-man battle royale took place to decide the number one contender, it being Axl Chaos, with the next title match at Strings Bar and Venue, Newport, on Saturday, August 17.

The OPW Women’s Championship saw Zan Phoenix defend her belt against Skye Smitson, followed by the Tag Team Title final, with Outcast Death Squad’s J.J. Volare and Jonny Viribus ensuring the title stayed on the Island.

The main event saw Josh Bodom beat Eddie Ryan in a brutal contest.

OPW promoter, Matt Jackson, said: “It was fantastic to have another sold out show, but we had to turn people away at the door, which shows how hot wrestling is here on the Isle of Wight right now.

“The crowd were into everything that went on in the ring, which makes everything the wrestlers go through absolutely worth it.”
