BONCHURCH discus star Nick Percy has never felt more ready to represent Team GB at the World University Games.

The 24-year-old, targeting next year’s Tokyo Olympics, feels the 63.50m qualification distance is within his reach — and where better to get it than at the World University Games in Italy this afternoon (Saturday).

The former Ryde School pupil, born in Glasgow, is currently second in the UK discus rankings — and he is understandably proud about pulling on British colours.

“I feel I’m in a good position to contend for medals,” he said.

“Wearing a national vest motivates you to do it on the biggest stage.”
