TWO members of the Wight Flyers Trampoline Club showed they had a spring in their step when they travelled to the Midlands to compete in the National British Schools Trampolining Finals.

Lucy Miller, who attends the Richard Taunton Sixth Form College, Southampton, came fifth in the Years 11-14 novice girls’ class.

The 18-year-old Islander’s college team came third in Cannock having qualified in the top two from both regional and zonal rounds.

Team-mate Lucy Collins, 11, a pupil at Carisbrooke Primary, was called up at the last minute as first reserve and with little time to prepare.

But following two good routines, she placed eighth in the Years 1-6 intermediate girls’ class.

To compete, the trampolinists had to qualify by coming in the top three places from both the regional and zonal rounds.
