A PENSIONER was saved from a knife-wielding robber after his screams alerted his son and the thug was forced to flee empty-handed.
The 75-year-old victim had parked in the drive of his home in The Ridgeway, Stanmore at 6.30pm on Tuesday last week, when the suspect approached him with a 12-inch kitchen knife and demanded his wallet.
The victim ran towards the door but tripped and the would-be robber leant over and pointed the knife at him.
But his screams alerted his son who scared the man off.
The suspect was male, aged 23, 6ft, with a slim build. He was wearing a navy woollen hat and a grey and black sleeveless body warmer jacket.
