A water company which supplies people in the Borehamwood area is warning householders to guard against the threat of bogus callers.
Three Valleys Water, in co-operation with the police, has produced a leaflet offering advice about what to do when someone calls at the door.
People are advised to install and use a security chain and eye-hole, and to always ask for proof of identity if the caller is unknown.
If the caller does not have an appointment, the householder should make them wait outside while they confirm their identity with the relevant company.
Copies of the bogus callers leaflet are available by phoning Three Valleys Water on 01707 277110.
