VIDEO clips of a 1950s and 60s revival band have helped raise £500 for Mountbatten in Newport.

Using old footage to raise funds was the brainchild of one of Blue Moon's original members.

Shortly before lockdown, Brian Sharpe transferred highlights from Blue Moon's 1980s sell-out Puckpool Holiday Centre gigs online.

In total, 75 clips were posted to Facebook, leading to renewed interest in the band's 2006 LP, Earthshine.

Around 50 copies of the album were sold as a result of the online surge - so the band made donation of £500 to Mountbatten.

In past years, Blue Moon and their subsequent New Moon line-up have raised around £22,000 for the hospice.
