FAMILIES on the Isle of Wight will be asked to study ancient Roman coins as part of the newest pack from the council's activity pack.

The newest instalment of the council's activities for families pack will have participants studying coins discovered around the Isle of Wight as they design a purse to keep them in.

The pack dubbed 'Crazy Coins' will involve both Sestertius and Denarius coins, two kinds of currency used by the Romans during their occupation of the Island.

A spokesperson for the council said: "Discover how they were made and view coins found on the Isle of Wight. You can also design your own coin and make a Roman purse to store them in."

The activities are suitable for all ages and there are suggestions for fascinating research projects for extending your knowledge and finding out more.
