VENTNOR Arts Club is hosting a special film event and Q&A with screenwriter Joe Bone tonight.

Joe, of Cowes, will talk about the film, The Vanishing ­— which he co-wrote with Celyn Jones ­— and his experiences writing for the big screen.

The Vanishing, starring Gerard Butler, is a tense, action-packed thriller based on true events.

On Monday (24), Ryde Film Club is screening the musical, Stormy Weather, from 7.45pm.

Lena Horne is joined by Fats Waller, Bojangles and the Nicholas Brothers in the 1943 classic.

On Tuesday (25), there will be a club screening at Ventnor Arts Club of Beautiful Boy from 7.30pm.

Based on the best-selling pair of memoirs from father and son, Beautiful Boy chronicles the experience of survival, relapse and recovery, in a family coping with addiction.

On Thursday (27), the club is screening a live satellite broadcast of Small Island from 7pm.

Andrea Levy's tale is a story which journeys from Jamaica to Britain through the Second World War to 1948 ­— the year the HMT Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury.
