POSITIVE vibes can be felt at St Mary's Hospital on some Friday lunchtimes thanks to a special programme of free music and arts shows.

Folk Hospital, The Music Plays On, is staged at The Full Circle Restaurant on the first floor on the last Friday of each month and special occasions.

Organiser Steve Double said: "These events transform the staff canteen at the close of the working week with positive music vibes, for staff, patients, and visitors to enjoy.

"The hospital canteen is a welcoming community space so we aim to host local and touring music shows and art exhibitions which offer something different.

"A recent show saw talented songsmith Angelina Grimshaw bring her authentic dustbowl redemption country gospel blues back to resonate with the acoustic halls of the restaurant.

"Guest singer Frankie Aeillio who fronted bands for Cozy Powell joined in and brought his soulful rocking blues vocals to the room.

"Then local legends The Tea 'n' Biscuit Boys brought their good time rockabilly 50s and 60s set to a storming crescendo on the stage."

Folk Hospital will return with some stomping tunes from The Folsom Prison Blues Band on Friday, April 26, between midday and 2pm.
