AN ISLE of Wight hotel director accused of ignoring a formal demand from HMRC to deposit more than £75,000 as a guarantee for future tax payments has appeared in court.
Anne Ellen Horne, of Fishbourne Lane, Ryde, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Friday, September 4.
The 68-year-old is charged with, and denies, two counts of failing to comply with Pay As You Earn (PAYE) regulations to give security/further security for payment, on September 21 last year.
Ms Horne also denies the charges on behalf of her company, Beau Monde Ltd, for which she is the director.
Ms Horne and her company are accused of failing to give PAYE security in the sum of £42,333, and failing to give National Insurance contribution security in the sum of £33,328.82.
Ms Horne’s case was adjourned to December 1 at the same venue – for a case management hearing.
A trial date has been fixed for January 21, 2027.
Albert Cottage, a hotel and wedding venue, is being auctioned after failing to sell.
The East Cowes property first went on the market last March for £2.25 million.
More than a year later, Albert Cottage is now being auctioned through Savills with a guide price of £950,000.
The Grade-II listed property was once part of Queen Victoria’s Osborne Estate and includes ten individually styled bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.
