Two kittens have been rescued after being found abandoned in a box on a footpath on the Isle of Wight, and named after a popular event.
The pair were spotted by a member of the public on the Cowes to Newport cycle track yesterday (Sunday, August 30) and were taken to The Veterinary Hospital on Riverway.
Both kittens, who are under two weeks old, had fleas and one had a mucky eye.
Jane, an experienced volunteer from Friends of the Animals, hand reared the pair and staff at the vets gave them a syringe feed.
The kittens were named Scooter and Vespa, in reference to the IW Scooter Weekend happening over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Helen Luff, from Friends of the Animals, said: "We are concerned for the mum of these kittens and if there are any others that may need rescuing. Please message us in confidence so we can help.
"Fleas will kill kittens and these are not the first we have rescued in this state. We can only say again please have your cat spayed and males neutered, we can help towards the cost."
