A burst water main in Sandown on the Isle of Wight is causing some traffic disruption this afternoon (Sunday) – with a road expected to close later today.

The incident has happened on Station Avenue, between its junctions with St John’s Road and Albert Road.

Southern Water engineers are at the site and carrying out a risk assessment.

The County Press understands the road is expected to close in the next couple of hours and could remain closed for up to a week.

The road is currently covered in surface water, which is running down into Albert Road.
