A WOMAN was left requiring hospital treatment and a man was repeatedly punched to the head, in two assaults carried out by an Isle of Wight man — both in the presence of children, magistrates were told.
Kai Glasspool, of Acorn Gardens, East Cowes, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Friday, July 17.
The 20-year-old admitted two counts of assault by beating, in Portsmouth and Ryde, on March 16.
That evening, as a friend drove Glasspool to Portsmouth Harbour for the FastCat ferry, he punched her in the mouth, injuring her lip, in front of passengers, including a child, prosecutor Liz Miller said.
The victim needed hospital treatment.

The second attack came after Glasspool arrived by ferry at Ryde Pier Head.
A man challenged him after seeing him take a woman’s mobile phone and make threats.
Glasspool punched the man several times in the head when he tried to intervene.
A child also witnessed the attack.
For Glasspool, Ava Ford said her client has autism and Tourette’s syndrome and had been drinking.
She said he struggles with alcohol misuse and would benefit from probation support.
Magistrates put off sentencing to September 22 for a full pre-sentence report.
