AN ISLE of Wight sex offender caught with over 140,000 indecent images of children, including some of the worst kind, will learn his fate later this year.

Peter Kirby, of Folly Lane, East Cowes, appeared before a judge at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Monday, July 13.

The 76-year-old admitted five charges, between February 1, 2019, and March 30, 2023.

They were as follows:

  • Possession of 986 Category A indecent images of a child
  • Possession of 1,227 Category B indecent images of a child
  • Possession of 142,265 Category C indecent images of a child
  • Possession of one extreme pornographic image portraying an act of intercourse with an animal
  • Possession of five prohibited images of a child

Kirby’s case was adjourned to September 7 at the same venue so a pre-sentence report could be drawn up.

He was granted unconditional bail until that date and made subject of police notification requirements.
