Isle of Wight crash sees car leave road and hit bush

A DRIVER was left with minor injuries after a car left a rural Isle of Wight road and crashed into a bush.

The single-vehicle incident happened on the Whitwell Road, near Ventnor, between St Lawrence Shute and Ventnor Rugby Club, at around 1.50pm today (Saturday).

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: "One car was involved, which left the carriageway into a bush."

"The driver suffered minor injuries."

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.

Fire crews attended the scene as well.

"There were no persons trapped. Fire crews made the scene safe, before handing the incident over to the police at 2.30pm," said a Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue spokesperson. 

Police at the scene managed traffic flow through the area.
