A popular Isle of Wight cafe is set to reopen today (Saturday, July 11) – just over two weeks after a fire forced its closure.
As previously reported by the County Press, emergency services were called to Artisan Cafe in East Cowes on June 25, following reports of smoke coming from a fuse box.
Firefighters quickly put out the electrical fire in the main cafe area, preventing it from spreading and limiting damage inside the York Avenue venue.
One person was treated for possible smoke inhalation, but no serious injuries were reported.
The popular cafe has confirmed it will welcome customers back from 8am today.
In a post shared on social media, the team said the incident had been “a difficult and emotional time,” but stressed that the most important outcome was that nobody was hurt.
Since the fire, staff and supporters have worked to restore the venue.
The post said: “We’ve worked incredibly hard to bring the cafe back to life, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of so many amazing people.
“To everyone who helped us clean, rebuild, fix, organise, or simply sent kind messages and checked in on us – thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
Customers are now being invited to return, with bookings available via phone or social media.
The cafe added: “We can’t wait to welcome you back through our doors, serve you great coffee, delicious food, and bring back the atmosphere we’ve all missed.”
