A special visitor was welcomed at Shalfleet Primary School on the Isle of Wight.
Following a class trip to the Houses of Parliament, where the Year 5 class expected to meet MP Richard Quigley but, due to unforeseen circumstances, were unable to, they wrote asking if he would visit them.
Mr Quigley replied that he would be delighted to, and the class delighted in welcoming him into their classroom.
They had a set of varied questions for him, from 'why did become a politician?' to what his favourite ice cream was.
The pupils were most intrigued by the answers.
Mr Quigley provided them with an insight into the life of a politician, creating an amusing and educational afternoon.
Class teacher Paula Blackley said her class loved their visit to London, but it was the icing on the cake to have their MP come along to their classroom.
The students' questions and general interest led to them getting an insight into how government works, especially after having visited both the House of Lords and the House of Commons.
Mrs Blackley said it was an educational experience the pupils would recommend for other classes.
