The UK Health Security Agency's (UKHSA) rare red heat health alert issued on the Isle of Wight by has been extended.
The South East, including the Island, is currently under the red alert, the strongest the agency issue.
Its conclusion has been extended by one day until 11pm on Friday, June 26.

It warns of increased risk to life across the whole population, increased demand on all health services and impacts on the workforce and indoor environments.

The Island is also under an amber 'extreme weather' warning from the Met Office, while a red warning from the weather agency has moved closer to the Island today.
People are advised to avoid the sun at peak hours, drink plenty of cool fluids and check on vulnerable individuals.
Several schools on the Island finished early today due to the hot weather and waste collection services were impacted.
