Seaclose Park got ‘Rickrolled’ as 1980s legend Rick Astley brought his plethora of hits to the Isle of Wight Festival.
The Together Forever singer performed on the Main Stage to an audience of thousands and was certainly a highlight of the day.
Speaking to both the County Press and Vectis Radio ahead of his performance, Rick told us about how the world of streaming has opened up his music to a wider audience of younger people, notably his biggest hit, Never Gonna Give You Up.
“The internet has provided this environment where all songs get listened to by kids,” he said.

“If you think about having a record collection, you never wanted to listen to what your mum and dad or your grandad listen to.
“Whereas now, I think kids find music from all different kind of periods and decades and everything.
“That’s pretty amazing.”
This year’s festival marked Rick’s second trip across the Solent, a follow-up to his 2019 Isle of Wight Festival appearance.
“It was amazing,” he said about the last time he performed at Seaclose Park.
“It was a gorgeous sunny day.
“It’s quite nerve-wracking because it's filmed and I don't care what anybody says, that just heightens the whole kind of thing.
“It’s a magical thing to come over on the boat.”
Rick is no stranger to love, and now he is no stranger to the Isle of Wight - we can only hope he comes back soon.
“[The festival] has got vibe to it, definitely. It’s a really good day.”
