THE Isle of Wight Festival 2026 is underway, with a surge of visitors crossing The Solent and a lively atmosphere already taking hold across ferry ports and onboard sailings.
Transport operator Wightlink says it has laid on an additional 86 sailings this week to meet the spike in demand, as thousands of festivalgoers make their way to the Island for one of the highlights of the summer.
Traffic levels are expected to match — or even exceed — last year’s event, when more than 27,000 vehicles and 36,000 foot passengers travelled to the Island over the festival period.
From early this morning (Thursday), ports have been busy with foot passengers carrying tents and rucksacks, while vehicles packed with camping gear queued to board ferries to the Isle of Wight.

Onboard, the mood has been upbeat, with live musical entertainment helping to set the tone for the festival weekend ahead.
Photos captured across routes show festivalgoers already embracing the spirit of the occasion as they begin their journey.
