The Station House, in St Helens, was built in 1877 and opened in 1882 as a station on the Island Railway Line, serving as the main commercial docks on the Island for over 70 years.

After the Bembridge line's closure in 1953, the station was purchased by the current owners' grandparents a few years after and converted into a large family home.

The property, including the old station building, boasts a 12.6-acre garden with views over an RSPB nature reserve and the River Yar.

The original platform has been transformed into a large conservatory with an eating area and space to relax and watch wildlife.

Estate agents, Spence Willard, said: "The property still carries an array of character and period features with unique detailing in the brickwork, typical of its era.

The Station House is offered in separate lots: the house and gardens for £995,000, and 1.48 acres with planning permission for five dwellings for £450,000.
