Isle of Wight inquest opens into death of man found at Shanklin home

An inquest has opened after a man was found dead at his home in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, prompting a call-out for police and paramedics.

Kenneth Brown, 76, of Green Lane, was discovered by his carer at 8.15am on May 20.

Police officers attended the address at around 8.25am, alongside the IW Ambulance Service.

Despite CPR attempts, Mr Brown, originally from Woking, was pronounced dead at 9.03am.

At the time, a Hampshire and IW Constabulary spokesperson said: "The death is being treated as unexpected, but is not thought to be suspicious".

A post mortem carried out on June 4 established the caused of death to be hanging.

Assistant coroner Daren Samat set a provisional inquest date of December 11.
