An Isle of Wight charity is encouraging businesses to consider the wider benefits of giving back to their community.

WightAid wants companies to make the most of charitable donations by taking advantage of tax incentives, allowing them to support good causes while reducing their tax burden.

Geoff Underwood, founder of WightAid, said: "By partnering with us, your donation doesn’t just go to one cause – it’s distributed to where it’s needed most.

"At the same time, this can help your business demonstrate strong social responsibility, strengthen its local reputation, and engaging positively with the Island community.

"Now is the ideal time to act. Whether you choose to give £500 or £5,000, your support will make a real difference – and your business can benefit too."

The charity supports small organisations across the Isle of Wight that help vulnerable people, build community connections, and improve quality of life.

It advised that companies often have an opportunity to donate before the financial year ends, making those contributions tax-deductible.

WightAid also explained that sole traders and partnerships who pay tax at least equal to that of their donation may be eligible for Gift Aid, allowing the charity to claim an additional 25 per cent of the value of the net donation.
