An Isle of Wight driver could receive points on his licence after he ‘fell victim to an insurance scam’.
Jackson Brown, 21, of The Avenue in Totland Bay, appeared before IW Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, June 2.
Brown had previously pleaded guilty through the single justice procedure to using a vehicle without third-party insurance.
Prosecutor Liz Miller told the court Brown was stopped by police while driving a Peugeot Boxer van on Mountbatten Drive in Newport, on September 15 last year.

Although Brown produced an insurance document to officers, checks revealed the insurer was not registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
The court heard the company, called “Speedy Insurance,” was flagged as fraudulent on police systems, and a customer service telephone number listed for the firm could not be contacted.
Further investigations found Brown appeared to have taken out a policy with the company believing it to be legitimate, but had instead been the victim of a scam, leaving him uninsured.
Police also carried out checks using a number of vehicles, including high-performance cars, on the fake firm's website and discovered it generated the same insurance quote regardless of the vehicle entered.
Unrepresented, Brown asked the court for a special reasons hearing.
Magistrates were told that if special reasons are not found, Brown is likely to receive six penalty points on his driving licence.
The case was adjourned for the hearing, on September 2.
