SUNSHINE, warmth and perhaps the odd shower — that is the early picture for the Isle of Wight Festival 2026 as long-range forecasts begin to take shape.
It's still early days, but current forecast guidance suggests revellers heading to Newport's Seaclose Park, between June 18 and 21, can expect a fairly classic slice of early summer weather, rather than anything extreme either way.
The Met Office has suggested "generally more settled conditions" are likely to return across southern England into mid-to-late June, bringing temperatures "near, or slightly above average", with spells of sunshine — although showers cannot be ruled out.
That ties in with a broader, long-range view that points to high pressure becoming more influential around the festival period.
It typically means longer, dry spells, together with lighter winds and warmer days, with the potential for very warm conditions at times.
However, weather experts stress "more settled" does not mean wall-to-wall sunshine.
June on the Island would normally see rain on around a third of its days — often in the form of brief showers, rather than prolonged wet weather.
Other forecast providers broadly agree, showing no strong signal at this stage, for either a washout or a heatwave.
Festival-goers should expect plenty of dry, bright weather, but also keep a light waterproof handy — just in case.
This year's festival will be headlined by Lewis Capaldi, Calvin Harris, Teddy Swims and The Cure.
Other big names include David Gray, Wet Leg, Two Door Cinema Club, Tom Grennan, Rita Ora, Rick Astley, The Kooks, The Last Dinner Party and Level 42.
