Isle of Wight arrests after East Cowes burglary attempt with 'knife'

Two people have been arrested after three men — one reportedly armed with a knife — allegedly tried to force their way into an Isle of Wight home in broad daylight.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary was called to York Avenue, East Cowes at 11.17am yesterday (Saturday).

Police received a report that three men had attempted to force entry to an address.

It was also reported that one of the men had a knife.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

A 55-year-old man from East Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

A 24-year-old man from Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and criminal damage to property.

They both remain in police custody at this time.

An investigation has been launched to establish the full circumstances.
