Police say a body was discovered at a property in Shanklin this morning (Wednesday, May 20).

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson confirmed officers were called to an address in Green Lane at 8:25 am.

They received a reported concern for the welfare of a man aged in his 70s.

Officers attended and established the man had died.

His family has been informed.

"The death is being treated as unexpected, but is not thought to be suspicious," the spokesperson added.

A file is being prepared for the Isle of Wight coroner.
