The 60th anniversary of the start of the Medway Queen Club is to be celebrated.

The club, originally hosted on the historic paddle steamer the Medway Queen, began in 1966, at what is now Island Harbour.

The vessel, which later returned to Medway, holds fond memories for many, especially as it hosted wedding celebrations.

Author and Medway Queen expert Richard Halton will be signing copies of his books at East Cowes Heritage Centre between 11am and 1pm on Thursday, May 14.

People are invited to share memories of the ship or her successor, the Ryde Queen.
