Sussex and Trent Rockets cricketer Danny Briggs will be part of Ventnor Cricket Club's squad in their opening league game of the season.

Danny, a left-arm spin bowler in the Vitality Blast and The Hundred, will turn out for his hometown side in their clash with Calmore Sports at 12pm on Saturday, May 2.

He rejoined Sussex on a three-year deal in 2025 from Warwickshire and also is part of the Hove-based club's spin coaching setup.

The former Hampshire bowler also plays in the franchise cricket tournament The Hundred for the Trent Rockets side, based in Nottingham.

Danny's presence in the Ventnor side is a helping hand given the absence of star player Dineth Thimodya, who will miss the opening game after sustaining an injury to his finger last weekend in Ventnor's friendly match with Fair Oak.
