Isle of Wight band Wet Leg will make TV history this month as the first-ever musical guests on Saturday Night Live UK, the new British version of the long-running US sketch show.
Sky has confirmed that the critically acclaimed duo will perform on the programme’s debut episode, which airs live on Saturday, March 21, on Sky and NOW.
They will share top billing with inaugural host Tina Fey, the former Saturday Night Live star and creator of 30 Rock, who is returning to the franchise to help launch its UK offshoot.
Saturday Night Live UK is billed as a home-grown take on the NBC institution that has been a fixture of American television since 1975.

The UK series will follow the familiar format of celebrity host, a musical guest, and a resident ensemble cast performing fast-turnaround topical sketches live on air.
Sky has commissioned an 11-strong cast for the first series, including stand-ups Larry Dean and Ania Magliano, Stath Lets Flats star Emma Sidi and Ghosts actor Kiell Smith‑Bynoe, among others, with the show produced in partnership with SNL creator Lorne Michaels’ company Broadway Video.
For Wet Leg, founded by Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, the booking marks another major milestone in a rapid rise that has already taken them from Island venues to huge festivals, BRIT Award success and appearances on US late-night television.
The indie sensations are scheduled to perform on main stage at the Isle of Wight Festival on Friday, June 19.
