A NEW 24/7 honesty‑based dog treat shed has opened and early demand has already left its owners “overwhelmed” by the support of the Isle of Wight community.
The Happy Hound Artisan Bakery Pup Pantry, based at 22 Greenway, in Binstead, officially launched last week, offering round‑the‑clock access to handmade dog treats, natural chews and specialist bakes.
The idea, its creators say, was inspired by the growing number of cake sheds across the Island — but with a bit of a doggy twist.
“Why should humans have all the fun?” joked the family team behind Happy Hound Retreat and Happy Hound Artisan Bakery — the mum and daughter duo of of Jan and Hannah Brookes.
Wanting to create something "fun, accessible and community‑focused," they set out to build a version especially for dogs — allowing owners to pick up a treat for their pets after an early walk, or late‑night stroll.
“We created the pantry to bring something a little bit different to the Island — a 24‑hour treat stop just for dogs," they said.

Inside the shed, visitors will find a wide selection of the bakery’s signature products, including the original Isle of Wight‑shaped dog biscuit.
The range also features new additions, such as doggy 'woofles' and doughnuts, alongside regularly-rotated healthy natural treats, like venison strips and goat skin rolls.
All bakery items are handmade using natural ingredients, complying with Trading Standards legislation.
The shed operates on a simple honesty system where customers can pay with cash, or use the QR code displayed, to make an online payment.
A complimentary water station has also been installed.
"The support we've had from local dog owners has been overwhelming," Jan and Hannah added.
"Seeing people pop by with their pups and share their excitement, has meant the world to us as a small family‑run business.”
Since opening, some treat lines have sold out within days, surprising the family with the strength of local demand.
Both the Happy Hound Retreat and Happy Hound Artisan Bakery are finalists in the 2026 Animal Star Awards, shortlisted in the Pet Related Business of the Year and Best Pet Food Supplier or Manufacturer categories.
