Donkeys in need of a little extra love are the stars of a new adoption campaign.
The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary in Wroxall has launched a Valentine’s ‘Lonely Hearts’ appeal to help find adopters for four of its least-adopted residents.
Each adoption supports the lifelong care of the sanctuary’s more than 100 animals, which include donkeys, ponies, a mule, and a horse.

Lucy Smith, adoption co-ordinator, said: "We’re not quite sure why these adorable Lonely Hearts have been left on the shelf.
"All four are full of character and charm, any one of them would make a loving Valentine’s Day gift.
"It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate a loved one while supporting a trusted local animal charity, why not share a little donkey love for Valentine’s."
Each adoption comes with exclusive updates, photos, and stories from the sanctuary, helping supporters stay connected throughout the year.
This year’s Lonely Hearts are Lenny, a sensitive sort who loves cuddles; Major, a playful and sociable character; Wispa, who enjoys attention and gentle company; and Gabby, described as the sanctuary’s "elegant diva."
The sanctuary is open to visitors seven days a week through winter, and staff encourage people to meet their favourite animal before choosing one to adopt.
