A new Sky history documentary series with Alice Roberts, written and produced and partly filmed on the Isle of Wight, starts airing tomorrow (Tuesday, February 3).
Island production company Nine of Cups's new three-part series, Secrets of the Lost Grail, leads Sky HISTORY's new mystery season, exploring Britain's story of the Holy Grail legend.
Alice Roberts, known for fronting shows such as Digging for Britain, Coast and Time Team, visits places to investigate stories and aims to find historical truth in the rich vein of myth around the subject.
The opening episode features West Wight and Ventnor, tracing the Island's grail legend with storyteller Holly Medland and local historian Joanne Thornton.
The series was written and produced by Ventnor based Rowena Amos and its director of photography was Totland based Kevin Early.
Islanders Angelina Grimshaw, Hanna Nixon and Gianpaolo Giancovich were employed as crew on the series.
Rowena said: "I’ve always been fascinated by the grail legends, and many people will be surprised to learn that the Isle of Wight has its own connection to the story.
"The Island has such a rich history, and we are thrilled to be able to share that with a worldwide audience."
Secrets of the Lost Grail with Alice Roberts airs on Sky HISTORY on Tuesday, February 3 at 9pm, and following weeks, and is available to stream via HISTORY Play.
