Hovertravel has announced new late-night Sunday services to help festival-goers return to the mainland after this year’s Isle of Wight Festival.
For the first time, the hovercraft operator will run extended services on the Sunday night of the event (June 21), adding three extra return crossings from Ryde to Southsea.
The additional flights are scheduled to depart Ryde at 10.45pm, 11.15pm, and 11.45pm, allowing music fans to stay later for the festival’s final performances.
Each crossing takes just ten minutes, offering the fastest route between the Island and the mainland.
Loretta Lale, head of marketing at Hovertravel, said the decision followed feedback from customers who wanted greater flexibility at the end of the weekend.
She said: “We’ve listened closely to our customers, and it was clear that many wanted the option to return to the mainland later on Sunday night after the festival.
“These new late flights are an exciting first for Hovertravel and give festival-goers more flexibility, convenience, and peace of mind for their journey home.”
The IW Festival is one of the UK’s most iconic live music events, attracting thousands of visitors to the Island each summer.
Hovertravel said the extended Sunday timetable would help manage the increased demand during the busy weekend and improve the overall travel experience.
Tickets for the late-night services are available to book via the Hovertravel website, with passengers advised to book early due to expected high demand.
