WHEN a family was left heartbroken and homeless after a rogue builder vanished with their life savings, Isle of Wight company RPL Construction stepped in to help turn things around — joining the BBC’s DIY SOS for a life-changing build.
The family’s home in Southampton had been left in ruins.
But with the help of dozens of Island tradespeople and suppliers, RPL donated their time, skills and energy to completely transform the property in just seven days.
The result — a safe, warm and fully functional home, rebuilt from the ground up.
The emotional reveal saw the family overwhelmed with gratitude — moved by the kindness and generosity of everyone who came together to make the project possible.

“It was an unforgettable experience,” said Samara Lamb, director of RPL Construction.
“Being part of something that truly changes lives, reminds us why we do what we do.
"The teamwork and compassion on site were extraordinary.”
RPL said it was "honoured to stand alongside dozens of other dedicated local trades and volunteers" who answered the call to help
The episode is set to air early in the new year.
While the team looks forward to seeing the finished result on screen, they say the real reward was knowing they "helped give a deserving family a fresh start".
