A project to create a tidal sea pool on the Isle of Wight is set to unveil a new brand identity.

It comes after a successful partnership with the Isle of Wight College graphic design department.

James Watson, a graphic design student, crafted the new brand for IW Sea Pool, incorporating a logo, icon, and additional design elements as part of his final year project.

He was supported in his efforts by lecturer Louise Downer and his fellow students.

The Isle of Wight Sea Pool project team was keen to maintain a local flavour, drawing on the Island's creative talent and offering young people the chance to contribute to one of the island's promising projects.

Marnie Janaway, a board director for the Isle of Wight Sea Pool, presented the idea to the college and briefed final-year graphic design students to create logo concepts using their newfound skills.

After careful consideration, James's design was selected for its strong resonance with the overall project vision.

James will now collaborate with the Sea Pool marketing group to integrate his design across all marketing platforms including the website, social media, banners, and signage.

This gives him valuable commercial experience alongside his ongoing studies.

Aiding his future academic endeavours, he has been awarded £250, having secured a place to study a marketing degree at Portsmouth University.

He will continue to be a part of the marketing group as the Isle of Wight Sea Pool brand custodian.

Sue Barker, an Isle of Wight Sea Pool project board director, said: "As a project team, we have an objective to use local skills in this project wherever we can.

"This collaboration fulfils that as well as bringing new energy into the team.

"We are really impressed by the creativity and professionalism that James has brought to this project so far and excited to see it coming to life over the next few months."

Graphic design lecturer Louise Downer said: "From the Isle of Wight College perspective, we know our students benefit hugely from collaborations with local organisations.

"This project with Isle of Wight Sea Pool will put the skills of our students on the map for years to come."

The new logo and brand identity will be launched later in the autumn.
