An Isle of Wight actor has been cast in Grease at the Mayflower in Southampton.

Lottie Paine, from the Island, will play Sandy Dumbrowski in Grease: Schools Edition at the theatre on Friday, August 22 and Saturday, August 23.

Lottie has previously starred in a range of musicals on the Island, including Six! The Musical, Legally Blonde and Chicago.

She is one of four principal cast members in Grease, with the ensemble set to be completed by around 150 young people across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Tickets are available on the Mayflower website.

Lottie was given a gold accolade at the IW Youth Theatre awards last month (March).

She won an award for her role as Velma Kelly in Chicago.

The TheatreTrain production also won the award for best principal cast at the ceremony, which coincided with Mother's Day.

The event organisers said: "Congratulations to all our individual award winners – for any performer to receive an award, at least one of our judges has rated their performance as outstanding or better.

"The future of theatre on the island is in excellent hands."
