Police increase patrols after fire at Isle of Wight park

Emergency services responded to a fire in a wooded area near Ventnor Park on the Isle of Wight on Tuesday evening (April 15).

The alarm was raised at around 8.25pm, prompting a swift response from fire crews and police.

Upon arrival, emergency teams found a small blaze behind the Dinosaur Labyrinth and Ventnor Sign.

Firefighters quickly put out the fire, preventing any further damage or risk to nearby areas.

A spokesperson from Hampshire and IW Constabulary said: “Officers will be carrying out regular patrols in the area.”

Police have not released details on the cause of the fire but have assured the community that they will maintain a visible presence in the area.
