Islanders were treated to three horticultural society Spring shows at the weekend.

The three events – hosted by Brighstone and District Horticultural Society, St Helens Horticultural Society, and Niton and Whitwell Horticultural Society – attracted hundreds of entries this year.

Brighstone and District garnered 300 entries from 56 entrants, and its new People's Choice Award proved so popular organisers ran out of voting slips.

Voting was even, with lots of entries receiving the same number of votes.

Towards the very end of the count, one entry got an extra vote, resulting in Helen Cox being crowned the outright winner.

Bob Castle, meanwhile, won the Chelsea Bowl for best in show as well as the Handicraft Cup.

Maisie Walker-Green claimed both the most points in children’s classes and the most points by U16s in adult classes, while Katie Walker-Green claimed the title for the most points in photography.

Niton and Whitwell Horticultural Society is now looking ahead to its summer show on September 13.
