A SUSPECTED sexual assault on the Isle of Wight saw specialist officers seize a grenade and a firearm from a property in Ryde earlier this week.
At around 11pm on Friday, September 27, police were called to an address on Lind Street.
Officers made an arrest as part of an investigation after receiving a report that a woman had been sexually assaulted.
At the address, police discovered a firearm, as well as a ‘non-viable’ grenade, meaning one which was no longer functional.
The Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team were called to assist with enquiries.
A 70-year-old man from Ryde was subsequently arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, stalking without fear/alarm/distress, voyeurism, and possession of a firearm.
He has been bailed with conditions, pending further enquiries.
