A man in his 40s has been arrested after two people were hurt in a serious incident at a popular Isle of Wight seafront pub.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed it is investigating an assault at The Veteran pub on Ryde Esplanade.
Police were called at 7.42pm yesterday (Saturday, September 21) to reports of a serious incident.
It was reported that, following a verbal altercation between a group of people, a woman in her 30s was hit in the face with a glass.
The woman's injuries are not thought to be serious.
A man in his 70s also suffered minor injuries to his arm during the ensuing melee.
Police have arrested a 48-year-old man from Ryde on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault and possession of cannabis.
He remains in custody at this time.
