A man in his 20s has been arrested following a house fire on the Isle of Wight in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, September 21).

As previously reported, Ryde and Newport fire crews were called to the scene on Bettesworth Road in Ryde shortly before 1am.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the kitchen at the rear of the building.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus were able to put out the blaze using hose reel jets.
A Hampshire and IW Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson told the County Press: "Police were also in attendance as it is believed the fire was set deliberately."
Following police enquires, it has been confirmed that a 26-year-old man, from Ryde, was arrested on Ryde Esplanade on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and possession of a knife in a public place.
He remains in custody at this time.
A spokesperson for the force confirmed that no one was injured in the fire.
