AN ISLE of Wight paedophile has been caught flouting the terms of the Sex Offenders’ Register - again.
Paul Wright, of Pyle Street, Newport, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Tuesday, September 17.
The 56-year-old admitted failing to comply with the requirements of the Sex Offenders’ Register, on April 15.
Prosecutor, Liz Miller, said Wright was nine days late for his annual registration with police, and it was not the first time he had flouted the order.
She said he did exactly the same thing last year, for which he received a caution.
Michael McGoldrick, defending, said the ten-year order was made in 2014 and was set to expire in October 2026.
He said Wright messed up the dates, believed he had until April 26 to register, and thought he turned up to register two days early.
Mr McGoldrick described it as a minor breach, just short of a reasonable excuse, and said Wright was engaging well with his community order, which was imposed in 2022.
Wright was fined £200 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and an £80 surcharge.
