A person was rescued from the water following an early morning search off the Isle of Wight today (Monday).
At around 12.30am, HM Coastguard was alerted to an incident near Ryde Beach.
Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams, an all-weather lifeboat from Bembridge RNLI, Ryde Inshore Rescue Service and the Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Lee-on-the-Solent were all called to the scene.
A casualty was recovered and passed into the care of the ambulance service.
Yesterday (Sunday), the body of a woman was found in the water off Shanklin.
Officers attended the scene, alongside coastguard rescue teams.
The woman, aged in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Formal identification is yet to take place. However, her next of kin have been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner in relation to this unexpected death,” a Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said in a statement.
