An Island road is closing for ten days from today (September 9).
Argyll Street in Ryde is shutting to allow Island Roads to carry out highway reconstruction work.
The street will be closed to through traffic between Argyll Place and West Street, with the closures being in place for 24 hours for security reasons.
The roadworks themselves will take place between 7am and 5pm each day, with local diversions signposted along Pellhurst Road, Ratcliffe Avenue and West Street.
HGV’s going eastbound through Ryde will divert along Queens Road then via Union Street, Esplanade and East Hill Road while those going west through Ryde will be diverted via West Street and Queens Road.
Pedestrian access and access for emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works, while on-street parking will be suspended.
An Island Roads spokesperson said: “We recognise that these improvement works may cause some inconvenience for residents and businesses, but we hope any disruption will be offset by the long-term improvements we are making.
“We would like to thank you in advance for your assistance in enabling us to complete these works.”
