There are traffic delays on the main road through Whippingham on the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Tuesday).

A motorbike is on its side following a collision, near Priory School on Whippingham Road.

Traffic is building in both directions.

The road remains open and the emergency services are on their way.

UPDATE 5pm: The A3021 Whippingham Road appears to be returning to normal following what looks to have been a minor collision.

UPDATE 5.21pm: The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed there was a collision involving a car and a motorbike, at the junction of Alverstone Road, on the A3021.

Police were called at 4.02pm.

The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries, police has said.
