THE historic 96th annual Chale Show — one of the biggest events on the Isle of Wight calendar — is back, starting today (Saturday).
This year, Chale Show's revised layout will include live music on the Mountbatten Sunflower Stage, featuring established and fresh Island music talent, throughout the weekend.
In the main arena, the entertainment will feature some exciting new acts.
British stunt rider Paul Hannam, best known for quad racing, has entertained in arenas all over the UK.
His ATV Stunt Show includes the UK's only multiple roll over quad, with up to four continuous rolls, as well as huge Jumps over cars, vans, tractors and a dump truck, as well as trick riding in all four corners of the arena.
There will also be the Official Dog and Duck Show, performed by humourous dog behaviourist, Stuart Barnes, and his animals.
Chale Horticultural Society's traditional show, in the marquee, will see more than 1,500 entries, over 200 classes to enter, for people of all ages and abilities.
This year, special classes will support Mountbatten and mark the 200th anniversary of the RNLI.
Last year, the Chale Show raised more than £6,000 for good causes.
The prize giving ceremony on the Sunday, followed by an auction of produce.
Elsewhere, the show's new Village Green area will bring together the Somewhen Storytelling tent, featuring local authors, plus an activity-packed kids' zone and the new Snoot Box Fun Dog Show, run over both days.
Other attractions will include displays of vintage steam, military vehicles and machinery, as well as Island food pavilion, Cran Market, antique marquees, a funfair and an animal petting area.
"The show has raised thousands over the years, and its volunteers thank everyone for their amazing support and continued love for the show," said organisers.
Gates open 10am daily at Chale Recreation Ground, Military Road. Runs until 5pm each day.
