Grass fire near steam railway line prompts emergency response (Image: Google Maps)
A grass fire alongside the Isle of Wight Steam Railway line prompted an emergency response this afternoon (Monday, June 10).
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to the railway line off Rowlands Lane in Havenstreet shortly before 5pm.
Upon arrival, fire crews found a grass fire on the embankment beside the train tracks.
Firefighters from Newport and Ryde used beaters and knapsack pumps to put out the blaze.
Firefighters left the scene following the stop message at around 5.20pm.
