A 'quirky' and 'one of a kind' mushroom-style property boasting panoramic sea views has gone on the market, in Totland Bay on the Isle of Wight.
With a guide price of £500,000, two-bedroom home, Le Champignon, on Heatherwood Park Road, is being marketed through Pittis and is for sale by the Modern Method of Auction.
Designed by well-known architects Alan Ridett and Alistair Hunter in the early 1970s, the unique property was originally one of four.
The idea behind the mushroom-style shape of the building was to add geometry to the existing landscape and 'pioneer a new look'.
Today, it is said that Le Champignon is the only remaining example of its kind.
As well as a garden and off-road parking, the quirky house also has a balcony with picturesque sea views of the western Solent.
The current owners began renovations a few years ago, giving the property new double glazed windows and sliding glass doors onto the balcony.
Inside the home there is a ‘spiral’ type staircase and porthole windows.
The lounge and kitchen area have also been opened up to accommodate ‘open plan living’.
There is also a generous sized master bedroom, which is in the process of having an en-suite built.
In the second bedroom a walk-in wet room can be found.
Offering privacy and tranquillity, the property is described as a "rare gem".
