There was music and fun for all the family when the Isle of Wight Inshore Lifeboat Centre host a special bicentenary event in celebration of the RNLI’s 200th anniversary today (Sunday, May 26).

At the free open day, RNLI volunteers carried out guided tours of the state-of-the-art factory in Clarence Road, East Cowes.

There was also a naming ceremony of a new ‘D’ class lifeboat.

Youngsters enjoyed meeting RNLI mascot Stormy Stan and speaking to the RNLI team. 

Live entertainment was provided by The Slipshod Singers, the Cowes Concert Band, the Inshore Lifeboat Station’s ukulele band and Medina Marching Band.
